Gustaf Dalén studied at Chalmers and won the Nobel prize in Physics in 1912

Nobel-prize season is in full swing. Several Nobel awards are announced in early October! And the physics prize was just announced yesterday. Congratulations to the winners!

In 1912 the Physics price went to Gustaf Dalen of Chalmers University. It was his work on the regulating valve, known as the “solar valve”, that reduced gas consumption as it could turn itself off during daytime.

His work at AGA AB turned it into the global company it is today.
